hail a cab = wave to get a cab to stop for you

call a cab:telephone for a taxi

的士司机- taxi driver = cabbie （口语）

但是taxi用做动词时和的士无关，表示飞机滑行：

The plane taxied to a halt.

fare除了可以表示“车费”还可以表示“的士的乘客”。
