Sanya, Hainan Island, China

I went on a business trip to Sanya in January, 2007. I had a full day before I had to fly back to Guangzhou at night. So my colleague and I went to some of the beaches in Sanya.

Sanya is located on Hainan Island,China. It's a 70-minute flight between Guangzhou and Sanya. However, flights to and from Sanya are often delayed, most probably because it's one of the most visited tourism destinations in China.

Its tropical weather and white sand beaches attract tourists and business travelers alike. Many companies choose Sanya to hold their annual conferences. Five-star hotels abound on this island. It's definitely a great place for wining and dining customers. Budget hedonism is also possible.

Some best things in life are free. Most beaches are open to the public.

For the first time, I didn't have to think about how to pose. The sea breeze and my scarf did all the work for me.

I love walking barefoot and feeling the gentle tickle of the beach sand.

What could be more relaxing than lying lazily in a hammock and listening to the gentle waves of the sea?

I took this photo myself.

Coconut trees and shells are everywhere on the beach.

There're many things you can do at the beach. Flying up there is one exciting option.

It took every ounce of my strength to pull the bow. And I missed the target all the time:(

Hats off to professional archers, who make it seem effortless.

Coconut milk is definitely the healthiest drink on this island. A coconut costs only RMB5

I'm near-sighted and have to wear glasses. My eyes can't stand contacts. I always take my glasses off when taking a photo. I believe I look better without glasses.

This is one of the few photos of me wearing glasses. @___@

Taking a speed boat can be really exciting.

All passengers have to wear a life vest.

The speed boat was really speedy. My hair got all wet. The man behind me could not even open his eyes because of the splashing waves. The boat was swinging from left to right. I risked dropping my camera and took this photo myself. Everyone on the boat, both male and female, screamed in excitement or fear.

I wonder why the sea and the sky are both blue.

Nature's colors are unrivaled.
