Made in China

08/26/2007 By Yvonne

Some of my foreign friends have sent me birthday and Christmas packages, which traveled across thousands of miles to reach me. I was amazed and amused to find that some of the presents were actually made in China. It was then that I realized how ¡°flat¡± our world had become and how far and wide made-in-China products had spread!

I do not intend to argue the merits and drawbacks of made-in-China products. On a personal note, I do not want my friends to buy something at a much higher price while I can get it cheaply in China. Not to mention the exorbitant international postage rates.

If you are a westerner looking to buy some presents for a Chinese person for business or personal reasons, here¡¯s a tip: make sure you don¡¯t buy something that¡¯s made in China; buy something that¡¯s unique to your country or your city.
